December 16 @ 7:00 pm - December 17 @ 5:15 pm
Classical Ballet of Fredericksburg will present “The Nutcracker” by Peter Tchaikovsky in two exquisite performances, Saturday, December 16, 7:00PM and Sunday, December 17, 3:00PM at James Monroe High School Auditorium, 2300 Washington Ave, Fredericksburg, VA 22401.
A fresh approach to this Christmas classic, the CBF production of The Nutcracker will feature professional and student dancers who have won recognition in international ballet competitions. The Free Lance Star recently featured Catherine Cata, the lead dancer in the Marzipan Variation, for being selected for a summer study abroad program with the Bolshoi Theatre in Moscow. Cata’s instructor, Director Regina Bogomolova, has been recognized for her work with many students and has won the “Best Teacher” award given by the World Ballet Arts – International Ballet Competition headquartered in Canada.
CBF has pulled out all the stops to make this an exceptional cultural event and treat for ballet enthusiasts. Gorgeous sets of layered drapes to create 3-dimensional scenery backdrops and many costumes from the former Soviet Union along with the timeless score by Tchaikovsky make this a show you will not want to miss!
CBF last performed The Nutcracker in Fredericksburg in 2009, so those who love this traditional performance are in for an unusual holiday treat. Tickets are available in advance at http://www.balletfredericksburg.com/buy_nutcracker_tickets_here or at the door. General admission is $29. Seniors 65 and older and children 10 and under $25.
